Photography
What is editorial photography? In a narrow sense, it’s photographs made to be published. In a broad sense, it refers to anything supposed to support the written word. Or, as in most cases, the printed word.
Portraits can also fit into this category, just as stock photos. Even though advertising photography strictly speaking isn’t classified as editorial photography — it’s commercial — I’m interested in that field as well.
The photographs below were usually taken to accompany news articles, business reports, historical essays, and the like.

In opdracht van DSM portretteerde ik de transformatie van de voormalige mijnstreek. Ik fotografeerde drie oud-medewerkers van De Staatsmijnen: een medewerker, een opzichter en een ingenieur. Zij wonen vijftig jaar of langer in hun huis. Ik fotografeerde hun interieurs.
